Dated 11th October, 2024 : As per the provision laid down in section 5(1) and (2) of The Mizoram Fisheries Act, 2002, the Governor of Mizoram is pleased to declare a closed season for the following species and variety of fishes in order to aid fishes have safe breeding against destructions and disturbances. During this period of closed season, catching, killing and disturbance of the specified species and variety of fishes are prohibited as mentioned below:-

1. Period of declared closed season :   From 10 October to 10 December, 2024.

2. Species declared closed season : Indigenous Species : Nghalim, Nghadawl, Lengphar (Garra, Danio, Barillius sp)

3. Declared action protection    : All Rivers and Streams in Mizoram excluding

the three Autonomous District Council areas.

4. Penalty for violation as per Section 5(4) of The Mizoram Fisheries (Amendment) Act, 2016

Imprisonment for one month which may extent to three months or a fine of Rs.5000/- or both.
