Aizawl, October 11, 2024: Key Officials from Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Aizawl Office comprising Shri T. Lhungdim, General Manager and Officer-in-Charge; Shri Navin Adarsh, Deputy General Manager; Shri Siddharaj, Manager and Captain Steve Lalthantluanga, Manager, today called on the Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati on the occasion of RBI's 90th anniversary of public service; apprised him on the achievements and functionings of the RBI in Mizoram.
Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati emphasized the need for proactive approach in educating the public on effective banking practices and the benefits that can be derived from these.
He urged the bankers to conceive useful banking services to help capable persons who lack financial resources with loans and schemes designed to help them grow. He reiterated that government schemes are designed to alleviate poverty and urged that special attention be given to ensuring their effective implementations. He also urged the RBI officials to monitor the impact of Financial Literacy Campaigns.
In the meeting, the officials from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) highlighted their ongoing efforts in Mizoram, focusing on financial inclusion and the financial literacy campaign. They also mentioned the achievements under the Lead Bank Scheme, where they successfully reached 40% of their target in priority sector lending. Additionally, the RBI introduced the concept of the Unified Lending Interface (ULI) and also outlined their plans for its implementation.
As mentioned during the meeting, 10 states and 6 Union Territories in India is now digitized. In Mizoram, both Aizawl and Serchhip districts are fully digitized. The RBI officials also stated that efforts are underway to digitize the remaining districts.
