Aizawl, the 24th January 2022 :Amid recent rise in COVID-19 cases in Lunglei District, a meeting was held at the office chamber of Deputy Commissioner, Pu Kulothungan A on Friday (21st January, 2022). The meeting held a detailed review of the present situation in the District, and discussed strategies to contain the rapidly increasing COVID-19 cases.

The meeting was attended by officials from the DC Office, H&FW, School Education & I&PR Departments.

Addressing the gathering, Lunglei Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, DLTF Pu Kulothungan A applauded the hard work put in by Health Department staffs, VTLFs and other stakeholders across the District, and urged them to continue working in earnest, amid a renewed surge in Covid-19 cases in the District.

As per reports by the H&FW Department, the District, till 21st January, 2022 has conducted a total of 1,25,954 Covid-19 tests, of which 13,199 (10.31%) were found to be positive. There has been 32 Covid-19 related deaths (male – 24, female - 8) in the District till date. At 709 active cases as on date, the District has recorded 1293 new Covid-19 cases since the start of the year.

On the vaccination front, Lunglei District, with a target population of 1,12,647 individuals has vaccinated 108222 (96.1%) with the first dose and 86,238 (76.6%) with second dose.

The meeting decided upon organizing a training for VLTFs to be held on 28th January at Convention Centre. The training would apprise them of all the latest guidelines regarding contact tracing, testing, home isolation, SOPs etc. The training is also intended to serve as a consultation meeting with the VLTFs.

With plans underway to organize vaccination session sites for 15-18 age group at their respective schools, the School Education Department was tasked with preparing shool level data on vaccination.
