Aizawl 25th August 2021: The Vice Chairman, High Powered Committee Lunglei Pu Lawmawma Tochhawng, MLA today visited the Baptist Covid Care Centre (BCCC) Serkawn to hand over Covid-19 protective equipments that were sent through arrangements made by the Health Minister of Mizoram Dr R. Lalthangliana. The MLA and his team were received at BCCC by Rev R.Lalbiakliana, AGS, Dr Lalramzauva, Director, Medical & Health Department, BCM & other BCCC staff.

The items comprising of PPE Kits, face mask, sanitizer, sodium hypochorite etc were handed over to BCCC by MNF Sub Hqrs Lunglei President Pu H.Thangrenga.

The Baptist Covid Care Centre (BCCC) Serkawn, is a healthcare facility set up by the Baptist Church of Mizoram (BCM) specifically to treat Covid-19 positive patients. It is located at Serkawn locality in Lunglei town, Lunglei District, and has the distinction of being the first and only Covid Care Centre run by a religious institution in Mizoram . The 23 bedded BCCC was inaugurated on the 28th of July, 2021, and has so far treated 60 Covid-19 positive patients. The centre is equipped with oxygen cylinders, concentrators & other related equipments, and is manned 24/7 by a team of one doctor and 4 nurses and 9 other staff members. With Government run Covid Care Centres stretched beyond their limits, especially during the recent peak of the Covid-19 second wave, the BCCC has offered a much needed augmentation of Covid-19 related healthcare resource for southern Mizoram.
