Lunglei the 22nd April, 2021 -  Amid the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in India, and surge in number of positive cases in Mizoram, the DM&R Department had, on 19th April, 2021, issued a restriction order to be followed in the State from 20/04/2021 (04:00 am) to 26/04/2021 (04:00 am).

The Covid-19 restriction order is being implemented smoothly in Lunglei District, with citizens following the guidelines, and no untoward incident being reported in the District as on date. Village Level Task Forces across the District have stepped up once again, setting up duty posts, and ensuring strict adherence to the guidelines without compromising the everyday needs of citizens.   

The District administration has deployed 198 Government employees to perform Covid-19 Executive Duty in all the 24 Village Council areas within Lunglei town. These Covid-19 Executive Duty teams are checking if citizens are following Covid protocols, and are also collecting spot fines from citizens committing offences under The Mizoram (Containment and Prevention of Covid-19) Ordinance, 2020. Police personnel are also on duty round the clock, with Police Flying Squad patrolling the town, and 5 police duty posts being set up in Lunglei town.

At present, Lunglei District has one Dedicated Covid Health Centre (DCHC) viz Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Sazaikawn. There are two Covid Care Centres - Zobawk PHC and SIRD Pukpui and two Quarantine Centres - Tourist Lodge Zotlang and DIET Lunglei. Presently, there are 26 Covid-19 positive cases in Lunglei District, 31 in home quarantine and 46 personnel of 2nd Battalion MAP under quarantine at their headquarters at Luangmual, Lunglei.

Meanwhile, the Covid vaccination drive continues across the District amid the new restrictions. The Covid-19 vaccination drive for Lunglei District started along with the launch of the Nationwide Vaccination Drive on 16th January, 2021. Since then, the Covid-19 Vaccination Team of the District has administered more than 25,000 doses of the vaccine in different session sites across Lunglei & Hnahthial Districts.

The District received 12,340 additional doses of Covid-19 vaccine (Covishield) yesterday.
