Aizawl, the 2nd October 2021 : On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Tourism Department in association with Mizoram Cycling Association organised a Cycling Competition - Tour de Hmuifang today morning. Flagging off the event from Mualpui Zero Point, Pu TC Pachhunga, Vice Chairman, Tourism, Sports & ICT Development said that the pandemic has hit the tourism industry very hard and this event could help promote tourism in the state.

72 cyclists from Aizawl, Lunglei, Kolasib,  Champhai, Serchhip and Saitual Districts took part in the event. The event was organised in two categories - Below 35 Years Category and Above 35 Years Category. 

In the Below 35 Years Category Mesak Vanlalvena of Sihfa clocked the 53 kilometres trip in 2 hours 14 minutes breaking his own previous record of 2 hours 20 minutes which he made last year and stood first. Malsawmkima of  Chhippir with a time of  2:23 hours came in second while the third position was went to Lalruatfela of  Bawngkawn with a timing of 2:25 hours.

In the Above 35 Years Category, 
Lallawmsanga of Mission Veng clocked the trip in 2:35 hours and stood first. David Rualzakhuma of Saron Veng, with a timing of 2:42 hours earned the second position while R Lalhmachhuana of  Champhai stood third with a time  2:47 hours.

52 year old  Dr Malsawmkima, was the oldest competitor while 12 year old Lalramluahpuia Zote was the young participant.

Tourism Minister Pu Robert Romawia Royte has announced on an earlier occasion that  Tour de Hmuifang would be held annually.
