Dr. Lalrozama, DC Mamit today inaugurated Sakhi - One Stop Centre at Mamit Field Veng in the building premises of Pu Lalrindika Sailo near GSA Playground.

Sakhi - One Stop Centre envisaged to accomodate women of any age who suffers from domestics violence or any other type of physical harrasment in the society. This Centre will help and assist in loging FIR, Medical Assistance, Psychological Support by counseling, legal aid, shelter, video conferencing and emergency response and rescue services. This Centre will be open 24 × 7 for those women who are in need of such help. Presently, the Centre is Staffed with 8 personals headed by District Centre Administrator.

Mamit DC Dr. Lalrozama in his inaugural speech thank all the stakeholders for their efforts to make this Centre function. He also invited all the people to support this Centre for the well-being of women who needs immediate help. He also did not fail to reiterate the duties of men in the family and society to protect women instead of making them victims of their anger and idiosyncrasies. He added that even though the inauguration of this Centre is a welcomed step for the District he prays and hopes that no such destitute women be created in the District.

Mamit District SP Pu Shashank Jaiswal, IPS who was also present in the programme said that the Police Community in the District under his supervision will fully support and co-operate with the Centre to find justice for the women who needs help. Pi Lalruatpuii, District Centre Administrator also briefed the audience about the functioning of Sakhi- One Stop Centre.

The Programme was hosted by Pi Lalrinpuii, District Programme Officer, ICDS and was attended by heads of Offices in the District, NGOs, Village Council Leaders, Journalists and other special invitees.
