Lawngtlai District Consultative Committee, District Level Review Committee and District Level Security Committee was held today under the chairmanship of Additional DC Pu K. Laltlawmlova, MCS at the Addl DC's office chamber.

The meeting was attended by Lead District Manager Pi Lalhlupuii, RBI Aizawl Manager Pu Dhruba Jyoti Das, NABARD Lunglei DDM Pu Evan T. Munsong, representatives of different banks and  line departments.

The meeting reviewed banks' performances in implementing government schemes and loans during October to December, 2019 (3rd Quarter) within Lawngtlai District and discussed security related issues, cash/currency management & remittance issues and credit linkage under various government schemes. Suggestions for better achievement and solutions for existing problems were also discussed.

It was raised in the meeting that there is an existing issue regarding non-acceptance of ₹ 10 coin by shopkeepers and customers. In this regard, it was mentioned that ₹ 10 coin was a valid currency and should not be rejected by anyone, though it is difficult to exchange coins amounting less than ₹ 2000/- in banks, there is always an option of depositing into accounts in which there are no such restrictions. The DCC requested the public not to refrain from accepting and circulating coins of ₹ 1, ₹ 2, ₹ 5 and ₹ 10.

The meeting formed an agriculture credit sub-group comprising representatives from banks and line departments to ensure progress in agriculture advances (loans) which will hold its meeting just after every DCC meeting. Banks and line departments were requested to promote and create awareness regarding education loans and other governmental schemes. The meeting also resolved to organise more frequent financial literacy camp (FLC) and to have a panel discussion on various central and bank schemes that can be availed through banks to be broadcasted in cable televisions.
