The District Education Committee (DEC), Samagra Shiksha, Lawngtlai District held its meeting at Lawngtlai DC's Conference Hall, yesterday.

The meeting was chaired by Addl DC Pu K. Laltlawmlova, MCS in which 9 agendas were discussed. The meeting reviewed activities of various interventions under Samagra Shiksha. Assistant Programme Officers (APOs) of major interventions gave achievement reports of their respective interventions.

Presently, there are 226 primary schools, 155 middle schools, 35 high schools and 2 higher secondary schools under the government in Lawngtlai District. "Kan Sikul, Kan Huan" project has been implemented in every schools within Lawngtlai District under the initiative of the Deputy Commissioner for which 6 best performing schools have been given an award in the Republic Day celebration this year.

Total Literacy Drive is being carried out focusing on illiterate adults for which evaluations by animators is going on. 345 teachers underwent a training under NISHTHA (National Initiative for School Heads and Teachers Holistic Advancement) during 2nd to 20th December, 2019. Another batch of such training is being going on at DIET Lawngtlai, and in-service teachers training is also being carried out.
