A meeting cum workshop on Village Level Development Programme was organised by Planning & Programme Implementation Department to sensitise various Line Departments on their roles and responsibilities was held at Aizawl today.

The meeting spelt out the course of action to be taken for implementation of the programme incorporating the activities of various Line Departments in close consultation with the Planning Department and the State Institute of Rural Development and Panchyati Raj. The meeting also discussed the revised Action Plan and set timelines for completion of various components of the programme.

This programme will be run on a pilot basis across 6 villages in 6 Districts. These villages are Sailam Aizawl District; Sekhum, Lunglei District ; Chawngtlai, Champhai District; Lungdai, Kolasib District; Leng, Serchhip District and Ailawng, Mamit District.

The basic aim of the programme is to enchance the impact and effectiveness of all developmental efforts at grass-roots level in the selected villages through convergence of existing Central and State schemes and creation of business-centred farming activity and sustainable market-led ecosystems.
