215/2026-2027

Kolasib, 4th July, 2026: The District Election Officer (DEO) and Deputy Commissioner of Kolasib, Pu H. Dolianbuaia, today officially published the Draft Electoral Roll for the three Assembly Constituencies within Kolasib District. The publication ceremony was held at the DC Conference Hall and was attended by key election officials and representatives from various political parties.

Addressing the attendees, DEO Pu H. Dolianbuaia highlighted that the newly published Draft Electoral Roll is the result of a rigorous Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Mandated by the Election Commission of India, the SIR is a comprehensive house-to-house enumeration process utilizing designated forms and historical voter data to thoroughly verify and correct the electoral roll.

The primary objective of the SIR is to prepare a completely accurate, error-free electoral roll by identifying and deleting entries of deceased voters, permanently shifted individuals, duplicate entries, and non-citizens, while simultaneously ensuring that no eligible citizen is left out. The DEO emphasized the significance of this exercise, noting that the last Special Intensive Revision in Mizoram was conducted over two decades ago in 2005.

The intensive enumeration process—which included form distribution, collection, and subsequent data entry—was successfully executed between May 30, 2026, and June 28, 2026. During this period, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) visited every household, assisted by Assistant BLOs and Booth Level Agents (BLAs), to ensure comprehensive coverage and accuracy.

Due to the thorough verification process of the SIR, several invalid entries were identified and removed from the roll. The category-wise breakdown of these identifications across Kolasib District is as follows:

 Deceased Voters: 1,873

 Permanently Shifted: 1,345

 Absentee Voters:494

 Already Enrolled (Duplicates): 150

Refusal to submit data (due to religious beliefs): 25

This intensive cleanup has resulted in a leaner and more accurate voter base compared to the previous Final Electoral Roll published on January 6, 2025, which had a total of 64,693 voters (31,174 Male; 33,519 Female).

The newly published Draft Electoral Roll (as of July 4, 2026) stands at a total of 61,340 voters. The constituency-wise breakdown is detailed below:

4-Tuirial (ST) AC: 8,607 (Male) | 9,112 (Female) | Total: 17,719

5-Kolasib (ST) AC:10,696 (Male) | 12,256 (Female) |Total: 22,952

6-Serlui (ST) AC: 10,032 (Male) | 10,637 (Female) | Total: 20,669

District Total:29,335 (Male) | 32,005 (Female) | Total: 61,340

Following today's publication, the statutory period for filing Claims and Objections will commence on July 5, 2026, and will remain open until August 4, 2026. Citizens are encouraged to verify their names and submit necessary forms for additions, deletions, or corrections during this period.

The Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) are scheduled to dispose of all received claims and objections by September 2, 2026. Following the integration of these updates, the Final Electoral Roll is slated for publication on September 6, 2026.
