Aizawl, the 13th October 2020 : Environment, Forest & Climate Change Minister Pu T. J. Lalnuntluanga today graced a function organised by Pachhunga University College to observe Wildlife Week at the Seminar Hall of PUC Campus.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister mentioned that PUC Campus is the most important forest cover within Aizawl city and lauded the efforts of the college authorities in tree plantation initiatives and preservation of tree cover in their campus. He said that green cover of the Campus plays a very vital role in controlling temperature in the city and citizens of Aizawl, especially localities near the campus have a moral responsibility to protect and preserve the tree cover. He stressed on the importance of tree planting drives across the state to mitigate the effect of global warming.
Pu T. J. Lalnuntluanga also mentioned that steps are being taken to implement Nagar Van Scheme within PUC Campus and the adjoining Forest Training School.
Dr. Tawnenga, Principal PUC and his colleagues also addressed the gathering.
