Aizawl 26th September, 2024: A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region, Zone III was held in the Committee Room of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly, Aizawl under the chair of Shri Sharingain Longkumer, Chairman of the CPA India Region, Zone III who is also the Hon'ble Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

Shri. Lalbiakzama, Hon'ble Speaker of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly on behalf of the host state addressed the meeting with his warmth to all the delegates of this 21st CPA gathering especially the members of tonight's executive meeting who are his colleagues in their respective states Assembly.

In the meeting it was decided that NERIPSTR (North East Regional Institute of Parliamentary Studies Training and Research) a registered society of about 28 years old should take initiatives to affiliate with any renowned university so as to facilitate the studies of Democracy, parliamentary proceedings, Legislative drafting and laws especially the Indian Constitution as envisaged by the founders of NERIPSTR.

A report on the building infrastructure of the NERIPSTR and fund position of the society was tabled by Shri. D. Pegu, Director of NERIPSTR who is also the secretary of the Assam Legislative Assembly.

In the meeting CPA India Region Zone III Constitution 3rd edition 2024 was tabled which was tapped by the members after necessary corrections and insertions.

The meeting also decided the next venue and timings of the CPA executive committee which was divided to be held next year by April 2025 with Sikkim proposed to be the host state.

Reports and current undertakings of the CPA India Region Zone III was heard from Shri. Andrew Simons, Commissioner & Secretary, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly and Smt. Khruohituonuo Rio, Secretary, CPA India Region Zone III which was deliberated upon by the members and accepted.

The meeting was participated by Shri. Biswajit Daimary, Hon'ble Speaker, Assam Legislative Assembly, Shri. Biswas Bandhu Sen, Hon'ble Speaker, Tripura Legislative Assembly, Shri. MN Sherpa, Hon'ble Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Shri. Tesam Pongte, Hon'ble Speaker, Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Shri. Lalfamkima, Hon'ble Dy. Speaker, Mizoram Legislative Assembly, Shri. S. Toiho Yeptho, Hon'ble Dy. Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Shri. Timothy D. Shira, Hon'ble Dy. Speaker, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Smt. Raj Kumari Thapa, Hon'ble Dy. Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly and Commissioner and Secretaries from the member States Legislative Assembly.
