Pu Ramchuana, Additional Secretary, Finance Department, yesterday inaugurated the "Financial Literacy Week'' 2021 at RBI Office in Aizawl. The program was also attended by Pu T. Sudheer, DGM, NABARD Aizawl and the bankers from across the state through webinar.

On this occasion, Pu Ramchuana highlighted the importance of timely repayment and advised bankers to make the customers aware about the importance of prompt repayment and credit score. Pu T. Sudheer, DGM, NABARD advised the bankers to sensitize their customers about the hazard associated with app-based lending platforms. Pu C. S. Vaiphei, AGM, RBI advised banking community to disseminate information and create awareness among its customers and public on the above theme by displaying posters that have been developed by RBI on their websites, ATMs and digital display boards deployed in their branches. He also advised the banks to conduct the financial literacy events during this week by abiding all the prevailing guidelines on social distancing.

RBI Aizawl will undertake various awareness programs and campaigns during the week and a centralized mass media campaign through Television and Radio channels are being undertaken during the month to broadcast essential financial awareness message on the theme. 

The theme of the FL Week for this year is "Credit discipline and credit from formal institutions" and focus will be given on a) Responsible borrowing; b) Borrowing from formal institutions and c) Timely repayments.
