Fire Prevention Week, a drive to mitigate both forest and domestic fire as well as to spread awareness on their hazardous effects, was inaugurated today at Parish Hall, Kolasib by the Deputy Commissioner Dr.H.Lalthlangliana.

The Deputy Commissioner in his inaugural speech pointed out that most of the forest and domestic fire accidents were caused by negligence, adding that better caution can avoid such mishaps. 

Mrs.N.Viji, DFO Kolasib presented a brief report on the fire incidents and initiatives taken during 2020-21 within the district. Mr.S.T.Lalhmingmawia, DLAO also talked on the role and responsibilities of Village Councils and the need for awareness with regard to fire prevention.

The function was attended by District Level Fire Prevention Committee, Kolasib district, Heads of Offices of various departments and representatives from local NGOs.
