Pu K. Lalrinliana, Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs department graced the launching of Pre-delivery Checking Awareness Campaign by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) yesterday morning at Government Mizo High School Field, Zarkawt in Aizawl.

Speaking at the occasion, the Minister said that LPG home delivery system has been started to  protect and respect the rights of consumers, and at the same time requested consumers to carefully do pre-delivery checking of gas cylinders to determine the safety and weight of the gas cylinders.

Chief General Manager Pu Uttiya Bhatacharya also said that the safety checks were mandatory and appealed to the consumers to  conduct pre-delivery checking of gas cylinders at their doorsteps. He also requested consumers to avail various services such as ivrs booking and iocl mobile app, and also to demand printed bill at the time of delivery.

The main purpose of pre-delivery checking is to ensure that the supplied cylinder is of the correct weight and is safe for use in the kitchen. It will entail checking whether the seal on the cylinder is intact and checking leakage from the valve and 'O' ring washer by using leak detection equipment.

IOCL officials also called on Pu K. Lalrinliana at his office chamber on monday evening to apprise him of joint inspection, of proposed site for gas bottling plant and oil depot at Bairabi, conducted by a team of officials from FCS&CA department and IOCL. They also discussed various measures to improve gas cylinder supply to Mizoram and the IOCL officials told the Minister of their commitment to daily send 22 truck load of gas cylinders to Mizoram.
