Border Security Force conducted a free medical camp at Durtlang on 30th March 2011. The free medical camp was inaugurated by Sh J. C. Pandey, DIG. Sector HQ BSF Aizawl. The Camp provided free medical check up and medicines to more than 500 people, hailing from Durtlang, Siphir and others nearby areas. A team of doctors from BSF, Aizawl and Civil Hospital provided medical care to the people during the camp. Sh J. C. Pandey, DIG, promised to organize more such camps in Aizawl and other remote areas of Lunglei, Mamit Districts in the near future to cater for medical needs of people hailing from poorer sections of the society.
During the medical camp special focus was given to skin related problems and an eye specialist from civil hospital provided free eye care apart from a team of doctors of BSF and para medical staff providing general medical care. Medicines costing Rs.l Lakh were distributed during the camp.
BSF has been involved in a number of such civic action programmes targeting the poorer section of society such as Bharat Darshan Tour for Mizo Youth, Special schemes for MHIP, providing direction and vocational training to youths, giving a helping and supporting hand to YMA, free medical camp or providing aid to schools and NGO's, BSF has been playing a positive and leading role in providing opportunities to Mizo society for their betterment and development.
