GAD MIZORAM APPEALS TO ALL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES TO WEAR TRADITIONAL ATTIRE TO MARK 'MIM KÛT 2023'

The General Administration Department, Government of Mizoram, today issued an Office Memorandum with an appeal to all the employees under the State Government to wear traditional Mizo attire to mark the observance of Mim Kût this year.

The State Level Steering Committee on Mim Kût decided to revive this important festival of the Mizo, which in the olden days was observed not as a festival of gaeity and merriment, but as a mark of respect to their deceased loved ones and to wish their souls a safe passage onto the after life.

'Mim Kût, 2023' is to be the first of the annual event that the State Level Committee hopes it will become in coming years. The first event of the newly rejuvenated Mim Kût is scheduled to be held on 29th September, 2023 (Friday) at Vanapa Hall, Aizawl, with fund of Rs. 20 lakhs from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
