31st May, 2022: As a part of the celebration of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate the 75 years of Indian Independence, a nation-wide event of interaction with the beneficiaries of about sixteen schemes/programmes spanning nine Ministries/Departments of the Government of India, named "Garib Kalyan Sammelan" was organised today in every district of the country. In Lawngtlai District, the event was held at DC's Conference Hall, Lawngtlai.
The schemes/programmes covered under the event are:
1) Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (Grameen & Urban)
2) Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi
3) Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana
4) POSHAN Abhiyan
5) Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana
6) Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen & Urban)
7) Jal Jeevan Mission & AMRUT
8) Pradhan Mantri SVANidhi Scheme
9) One Nation One Ration Card
10) Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana
11) Ayushman Bharat PM Jan Arogya Yojana
12) Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centre
13) Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana
The principal objective of the interaction was to understand how these schemes have brought about ease of living for the citizens, to explore possibility of convergence and saturation and to assess the citizens’ aspiration for India as it completes 100 years of independence in the year 2047. The Sammelan is one of the largest ever single-event nationwide interaction.
The national level Sammelan was organised at Shimla, Himachal Pradesh which was presided over by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Pu Narendra Modi. The Prime Minster interacted with beneficiaries about the impact that the wide-ranging schemes/programmes covering housing, availability of potable water, food, health and nutrition, livelihood and financial inclusion etc., have had on their lives. He also interacted with beneficiaries of several districts across the country through video conferencing.
The District level Sammelan for Lawngtlai District was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Pu Amol Srivastava. It was attended by officials from line departments, selected beneficiaries of the schemes and representatives of VCs and NGOs. DRDA and Lead Bank Office prepared a presentation of schemes under their department, other departments also highlighted schemes implemented by their departments. There was an interaction with the beneficiaries who shared their views on the impact of these schemes in their lives.
At 11:00 a.m., the District event was linked with the National event and the participants watched Hon’ble Prime Minister live from Shimla interacting with the beneficiaries with the country.
