In the interest of public service and with the approval of Council of Ministers on 3rd August, 2010, the Government of Mizoram has issued notification to bifurcate the existing Directorate of Industries in upgrading its Geology & Mining Wing as another new Directorate namely "Directorate of Geology & Mining Resources" with effect from 1st September, 2010. The new Directorate will deal with the following subjects:
1. All mines and minerals
2. Oil and Natural Gas
3. All Minor Minerals including 'Sand & Stone Quarrying' regulated under Mizoram Minor Mineral Concession Rules, 2000.
