Aizawl, the 1st March 2024: Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati graced the occasion of the annual Conference of Association of Surgeons of Mizoram held at RB Mc Cabe Hall, Aijal Club last evening.
Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati expressed his delight in addressing a gathering of distinguished professionals who dedicate their lives to advancing the field of surgery. He cited the contributions of surgeons throughout history to have been crucial in shaping the field of medicine, enhancing patient care, and advancing human well-being. The governor acknowledged that due to the high expectations from the public, a few errors that used to happen in carrying out these complex tasks are often received rather unfavorably. Despite this, the Governor encouraged the surgeons not to get bogged down but to try even harder to overcome these challenges that riddled the noble profession. In this connection, he appealed to the general public that doctors working in remote and rural areas, working hard for underserved communities should be appreciated and be given their due respect. At the same time, the Governor also urged the doctors to be very clear about their vital roles since they are not merely practitioners of medicine but are also bearers of hope.
On this occasion, he offered his congratulations to the ASM fraternity, as a whole, for an extraordinary milestone achieved last year when, for the first time in Mizoram, a medical team headed by Dr John Lalliandinga successfully operated on conjoined twins at Zoram Medical College. Further, he added that the feat was an exceptional collaboration of multidisciplinary professionals, crucial for addressing complex medical cases. The Governor also urged the doctors to actively continue to participate in the success of the various programs under the National Health Mission - maternal health, child health, adolescent health, family planning, universal immunization programs, etc.
