Aizawl the 25th January 2024: The National Voters’ Day 2024 is being celebrated across India today. In Mizoram, the state-level celebration program of the National Voters’ Day 2024 was held at the Assembly Secretariat Conference Hall. Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati graced the occasion as the chief guest. On this occasion, the Governor addressed the gathering and also handed out the prizes to the winners of the NVD Competition on essay & painting to the students of High School and Higher Secondary Schools. He also distributed the BLO Awards to the best-performing BLOs.
In his opening address, the Governor gave special acknowledgement to the Election Commission of India (ECI) for making India a thriving democracy and the envy of neighbouring countries, which are in political turmoil and disturbances. He highlighted the repeated success of the ECI in overcoming the challenges to introduce the EVM and also lauded the state election office of Mizoram supported by the civil society, the churches and the NGOs for being instrumental in conducting a series of peaceful and successful General Elections with the increasing voters’ turn out.
Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati also urged the state election officials to keep performing so that the goals of ‘no voter left out’ are achieved’ and the theme of this year, “Nothing like voting, I vote for sure” is wholeheartedly subscribed by the voters.
On this occasion, the Governor also paid his condolences to the following officials who lost their lives while performing their duties during the election process. Pu Z.Lalmuanzuala of 4th IR Battalion, Pu Lalfakawma of 2nd IR Battalion, Pu C.Zonunsanga, Aadhar Operator, DC Office, Serchhip and Pu Rajpal Singh of 156 Bn CRPF.
In conclusion, he appealed to all the people of Mizoram to strive hard towards strengthening democratic traditions by being involved in the electoral process, remembering that individuals can influence government decision-making through voting.

The program commenced with a welcome speech from Pi Nazuk Kumar, District Election Officer, Aizawl District followed by the screening of the message of Pu Rajiv Kumar, Chief Election Commissioner of India. Pu Madhup Vyas, CEO of Mizoram addressed the gathering on behalf of the State Election Office, Mizoram which was followed by the prize distribution. The program was concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Pu H. Lianzela, Addl.CEO, Mizoram.
