Hnahthial, the 11th May 2023: Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati and Lady Governor Dr.Jayashree Kambhampati paid their maiden visit to Hnahthial District today. 

On his arrival, he visited Tuipui D village, where he inspected the River Bridge Construction Project to be taken up by Project Pushpak, Mizoram. At the same location, Governor also visited and watched the river fishes conservation area on the Kolodyne(Kaladan) River.

On his arrival at Tuipui D Village, the VC and the local residents hosted a short reception for Governor . Pu R.Lalremsanga, Deputy Commissioner, of Hnahthial District, Pu Vineet Kumar, other officials and the locals were present at the spot to receive the Governor. 

Shri SP Kolipey, Chief Engineer, BRO, Project Pushpak Mizoram apprised the Governor about the project - tentative time of commencement and duration. He also explained how it would boost the transportation for southeastern Mizoram via Hnahthial Town and Sangau Town. At present, the existing Bailey bridge over River Kolodyne can handle a maximum load of only 4 tonnes (small to LMV). The heavier vehicles are ferried across the river by motor boats that can handle slightly heavier loads than the bridge. As per the preliminary estimate, the construction of the bridge is to begin shortly and would take about 2 years to complete. 

Later, in the afternoon, Governor was accorded the official reception by Pu R.Lalremsanga, Deputy Commissioner, of Hnahthial District, and other heads of departments at the PWD Inspection Bungalow. After the reception, the interaction between the visiting head of state and the district heads of departments, bankers, and other leaders was organized at the KVK Lunglei Complex, Hnahthial. 

On arrival at the KVK Lunglei Complex, Hnahthial, Governor visited the stalls set up in front of the venue. In these stalls, the Department of Horticulture, Agriculture, Sericulture, AH&Vety along with KVK and MzSRLM displayed their products. 


At the outset of the interaction, Pu R. Lalremsanga, Deputy Commissioner gave a presentation of the detailed district profile while a security scenario of the district was presented by Pu Vineet Kumar, SP, Hnahthial District.

The Deputy Commissioner, in his presentation, focused on developmental activities under selected departments such as Rural Development, UD&PA, P&E, PHE, PWD, Agri & Allied departments, etc.

During the presentation of the district profile by the Deputy Commissioner, Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati interacted with the concerned officials. Through these interactions, Governor urged the officials to give more effort into some areas that need improvement. At the same, he also expressed his appreciation for achievements made under certain important schemes. He also stressed the need for commitment to finish the projects on time. In this connection, Governor explained to the Officials how any delay in any project would result in a loss of opportunity to start another new project which would mean denying the stakeholders of benefits.

In this interaction, Governor suggested the improvement of the power supply in the district by adopting the generation of power through Solar Energy. He also urged the bankers to do more awareness campaigns on several social security schemes that are available to the common man. 

He also advised the bankers to be more supportive of the farmers who seek loan assistance. Further, he also urged them to give the farmers, all the necessary financial advice and give awareness on all possible loan assistance that are available with the banks. 

As reported, Hnahthial District has a geographical area of 1030 sq. Km with a population of 28,468( 2011 census). It has only one SDO Sadar division and one RD Block covering 32 villages and Hnahthial Town. 

The first session of the official function concluded with a vote thanks proposed by Pu Lalvenhima, Addl. DC, Hnahthial District.

After the interaction with the officials, Governor interviewed a session with beneficiaries of MUDRA loans in the presence of Bankers.  In the last session, Governor interacted with the leaders and the representatives of various political parties, Civil Societies, Churches, and NGOs.
