Aizawl, the 25th April, 2025: Mizoram Governor, General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), who also serves as the Patron of the Aizawl International Half Marathon, 2025 (AIHM 2025), this morning graced the closing and felicitation ceremony of Mizoram's first-ever international half marathon at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Aizawl. AIHM 2025 is being jointly organized by the Government of Mizoram's Sports & Youth Services Department, the Athletic Federation of India and Innovations India Pvt. Ltd.
In his address, Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd) lauded the successful hosting of the Aizawl International Half Marathon 2025. He underscored the importance of organizing even bigger and more inclusive events in the future, aiming for greater participation and public engagement. He applauded the Sports Minister, the Athletic Federation of India, Innovations India Pvt. Ltd., and all associated organizers for their dedicated efforts. He further urged all the marathon runners to continue striving for physical fitness and health, and expressed confidence that the Mizoram International Half Marathon will soon become one of the most popular and sought after sporting events in India.
Sports & Youth Services Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar also expressed gratitude for the successful hosting of the Mizoram International Half Marathon and praised the involvement of participants, especially from outside the state. Taking this opportunity, the Sports Minister declared that the next Aizawl International Half Marathon is scheduled for Valentine's Day, February 14, 2026, with hopes for even greater participation. He also appreciated the enthusiasm of all participants this year and extended an open invitation for the next edition.
Today's event was attended by PWD Minister Pu Vanlalhlana, Environment, Forest & Climate Change Minister Pu Lalthansanga, Deputy Speaker Pu Lalfamkima, Adviser to CM Pu Lalmuanpuia Punte, MLA Pu Jeje Lalpekhlua, Capt. Rahul Bali, CEO, Innovations India Pvt. Ltd. and other officials.
Over 1,500 participants joined AIHM 2025, flagged off at 6:30 AM by Sports & Youth Services Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar from Rajiv Gandhi Stadium. There were four categories: Half Marathon (21.1 Km), Open Race (10 Km), Fun Race (5 Km) and Junior Category (5 Km). The race route started from Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, ran through World Bank Road, and finished back at the Stadium. Prize money worth Rs 10 lakh was awarded.
