No.497/2021-2022

Aizawl, the 14th February 2022: Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati interacted with the officials from the Doordarshan  and the All India Radio, Mizoram at the Raj Bhavan this morning. In this meeting, officials from the two national broadcasters gave presentations on how they operated across the state. This was followed by an interactive session wherein a strategy to popularize the various central welfare schemes for the beneficiaries in the state was discussed.

The meeting began with the Doordarshan and the All India Radio officials detailing how they are operating across the state through PowerPoint. Both the presentations were an insight into the organization structure, the infrastructures, technologies, manpower, various breakups of programme, news bulletins and other forms of communications for disseminating news and education of the masses on various government policies and schemes.

After going through the presentations, Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati congratulated the officials of the two national broadcasters for their commendable job of reaching out to almost 99% of the state population through their wide coverage. Even though the existing programs and techniques used to educate the masses on various central welfare schemes are encouraging, the Governor felt that more efforts are needed to be given on this front.  He believed that the two national broadcasters have an extremely important role to play in educating the stakeholders on so many central welfare schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY), Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Stand Up India Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana and so on. And that if mass education/awareness campaigns on these welfare schemes are intensified more people in the state will surely come forward to avail these welfare schemes which have been lying unused and unheard.
