Aizawl, the 11th February 2022: Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati discussed the key projects under Agriculture & Allied Sector with the concerned officials at the Raj Bhavan, today. The  Bamboo Link Link Project(Rs 100 Crore) approved under PM-DevINE Scheme for the Northeast States and the Dragon Fruit Plantation in the state along with other important initiatives were discussed at this meeting.

On behalf of the two agencies for the Bamboo Link Road Project - PWD and Horticulture, Pu JC Ramthanga, Addl Chief Secretary gave a detailed presentation of the project. As per the presentation, these Bamboo Link Roads will provide the farmers, the required accessibilities to all the Bamboo Plantations areas and the markets. This pilot project will try to achieve the production of good quality raw materials and finished products at cheaper prices. Besides, these link roads will provide valuable transportation routes and reduce transportation costs for the farmers who grow other types of crops and plants.

On the progress of acquiring Organic Certification for the harvested organic crops in the state, Dr. Elizabeth Saipari apprised the Governor that the government is currently collaborating with the two certifying agencies and the other two agencies for training of farmers. She also reported on how the farmer started getting profits from the successful plantations of two cultivars of Dragon fruits from Vietnam and Thailand.

Pu Rohmingthanga Colney, Director, Agriculture Department also gave a detailed presentation on the progress of various schemes taken up under Centrally Sponsored Schemes, UN aided Schemes and other sources.

Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati thanked all the officials involved in these key initiatives for the state. However, he insisted that much more work are still needed to be done and urged all the supervising officials and the stakeholders of these schemes to try even harder. He also expressed his conviction that Mizoram has all the essential ingredients to excel in Agriculture and Allied sector and that the state is not far from achieving it.
