Aizawl, the 23rd November 2022: Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati presented Gold & Silver Medals to 18 Jawans (11 Gold and 07 Silver) of Assam Rifles for the year 2022, in the investiture Ceremony held at Circular Lawn, Raj Bhavan this morning. The event was organized by the Aizawl Battalion under the aegis of Headquarters 23 Sector Assam Rifles and the Headquarters office of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East).

After the presentation of medals and citations to the recipients, Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati addressed the officers, all ranks of Assam Rifles and the invitees who attended the ceremony. Governor thanked and congratulated the Assam Rifles, the oldest paramilitary force in India, for their tremendous work done for the safety and welfare of the local people. He also acknowledged the active role the Assam Rifles are taking up in curbing the drug menace. He was particularly impressed with the Civic Action Projects of the Assam Rifles for the local people through which the services of specialist doctors are extended to patients in remote areas. He urged the officers and all ranks of Assam Rifles to continue to excel and lead other armed forces in the country in Counter Insurgency Operations, Border Management Operations, maintaining law & order by helping civil administration, in disaster management and also in the socio-economic development of the far-flung areas.

Governor also praised the valiant and exemplary tasks performed by the Governor’s Medal recipients today. He expressed his appreciation for the number of efforts taken by all ranks of the Battalions in their professional assignments to uphold the dignity and sovereignty of our great Nation. He thanked the recipients for their valuable contributions and congratulated them on receiving this recognition. He also expresses his full confidence in our jawans that they will leave no stone unturned to discharge their indispensable responsibilities in future too.

At the investiture ceremony, the Governor presented Gold & Silver Medals to 18 Jawans (11 Gold and 07 Silver) of Assam Rifles for the year 2022. In addition, the 2 (Lakhimpur) Bn and 8 Assam Rifles were also given Governor Citation for tremendous work in the state of Mizoram for the fulfilment of the local populace as well as putting a tight noose on smuggling activities.

The Assam Rifles is the oldest paramilitary force in India. The Assam Rifles Investiture Ceremony was first introduced in 1957 by the then Governor of Meghalaya to encourage the valiant soldiers of the force.

Major General Vinod Kumar Nambiar, YSM, SM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), Brigadier Digvijay Singh, SM, Deputy Inspector General, Headquarters 23 Sectors Assam Rifles, Commandant Anil Kumar K, Commandant (Administration), Headquarters 23 Sectors Assam Rifles, Colonel Rajesh Kumar Nayak, Commandant 2 Assam Rifles, troops of Assam Rifles and other civil Administration officials attended at the ceremony.
