Aizawl 22nd November 2022: Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Consumer Affairs and Food & Public Distribution Shri Ashwini Kumar Choubey called on Shri Lalrinliana Sailo, Speaker of Mizoram State Legislative Assembly at the Speaker’s Office Chamber this evening.

Assembly Speaker Shri Lalrinliana Sailo thanked Shri Ashwini Kumar Choubey for being the first Union Minister to visit the state’s Assembly House. He conveyed his gratitude for the frequent visits made by the Union Ministers. The Assembly Speaker pointed out the progress made by Mizoram Assembly and stated that under e-vidhan project, Mizoram Legislative Assembly is going paperless soon. He requested the Union Minister to take note of the ecological disturbance made by the ongoing development projects in the state, which had become a growing concern.

Shri Ashwini Kumar Choubey applauded the clean environment of the state and mentioned that Mizoram having 85% of its area under forest cover is a remarkable and unique feature. The Union Minister asserted that rendering the development of the Northeastern states was a high priority of Narendra Modi led government. He gave importance to drawing the line between ecological disturbance and developmental works. He also assured the inclusion of all Mizoram Districts under the Nagar Van Scheme.

The Assembly Speaker was accompanied by Shri Lalhmahruaia Zote, Commissioner & Secretary, Mizoram Legislative Assembly in this evening's meeting with the Union Minister.
