Aizawl, the 29th September 2022: Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati and Lady Governor Jayasree Kambhampati arrived at Serchhip town today for their 2 days tour of the district. The first official programme, interaction with the head of offices in the district was held at the office of the Deputy Commissioner. This official interaction was followed by interviews where the Governor discuss a wide range of topics with the leaders and representatives from the Churches, the NGOs, the political parties, and the media persons.

The interactions with the officials began after the Governor and Lady Governor were given a welcome address by Smt Nazuk Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Serchhip. She continued with her presentation of the district profile. After the Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Stephen Lalrinawma, Superintendent of Police gave a presentation on the Security Scenario of Serchhip District. During these presentations, the Governor raised queries to be answered by the concerned officials.

The Governor appreciated the officials and the citizens for their collaboration to make the district one of the more peaceful districts in the state. He also lauds the achievement of Sialsir Village in the district for bagging the prestigious "Best Panchayat Award" for their initiatives in water management. He pointed out the remarkable improvements made in the district for cleanliness drives. 

At the same time, Governor Hari Babu also underlined some sectors where the districts are lagging like PGI Rating in School Education. He felt that Mizoram as a whole didn't perform as well as everyone would expect. To improve this rating, Governor advised mending the communication gap between the DEOs and the school heads in the districts. 

Governor continued to urge the officials and the bankers to be proactive in their dealings with the customers so that the social security schemes and many centrally funded welfare schemes are known to the target beneficiaries. He voiced his concern that the majority of the population in the state are still unaware of schemes like Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana(PMJJBY), PM Ujjwala Yojana(PMUY) scheme, etc,. In this connection, he urged the officials, the educated citizens and the bankers to create more awareness and reminded them that it is also their responsibilities.
