Chhingchhip, the 30th September 2022: Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati who is on an official tour of Serchhip District visited Sainik School, Chhingchhip, a few miles away from Serchhip town today.

Upon his arrival, Governor was accorded the Guard of Honour by 8 Bn of Assam Rifles. He was then introduced to the staff by Wcdr Shahul Hameed, Principal, and Maj S.Kalyan, Administrative Officer. A briefing about the School to Governor was given by the Principal in his office room. After this, an official function with a cultural program was organized inside the Assembly Hall in honour of the esteemed visitor. Here, the Governor addressed the students.

Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati congratulated faculties for their best effort to keep up with other establishwd Sainik Schools in the country. He thanked the state government for bring up a highly valuable asset of national importance in education like Sainik school here in Mizoram. He expressed his pride of having the first Sainik School in the country where girl students are admitted.

He stressed the importance of Sainik Schools for preparing the young students to become cadet officers in Army, Airforces and Navy. Beside this, he said the school also prepared the students to become role model students and role model citizen. He reminded the students of the school about their important duties for the national integration of the county.

The programme began with welcome address by Maj S.Kalyan, Admn and concluded with vote of thanks proposed by WCdr Shahul Hameed, Principal, Sainik School, Chhingchhip.

After the official programme, Governor inspected the facilities inside the campus of Sainik School Chhingchhip.

As per the briefing by the Principal, here are the few highlights of the school. The school is now 6 years old and running with the pilot cadets in Class XI. The annual intake of students are 60 boys and 10 girls in the class VI while in the class IX only boys are admitted with the availability of 10 seats for students annually. The annual fee per a student is estimated at Rs 1.85 lakh per year. The schools have daily routine for winter and summer and winter with the physical and classroom activities through out the day. It usually starts from very early morning till 9:00 to 9:30 PM at night.

Apart from the facilities for cocurricular activities, the School is also currently having the facilities like Football Ground, Badminton Court, Basketball Court, Gynasium, Music room,etc.,. The swimming pool, parade ground and other big sports facilities are being planned to be added very soon.

The Principal highlighted the status of Grant in Aid from the state, issues with water and power bills, LMV ambulance to be received from the Mizoram Rural Bank through CSR, INSAS rifles to be received from Home Department, Government of Mizoram, Infrastructural Fund received to the tune of Rs 99,96,000 the Ministry of Defence with the proposed implementations.

To solve the issue with high power bills, the Governor advised implementation of Solar Power Generation plant inside the campus. While, the issue with high water bills is being taken up the office Deputy Commissioner and is expected to be solved very soon.

Governor in his visit to Sainik School, Chhingchhip was escorted and given a company by Pu Lalmuansanga Ralte, Addl DC and Pu Stephen Lalrinawma, SP, Serchhip District.
