Mamit, the 10th November 2022: Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati arrived at Mamit town this afternoon for his two day long official tour of the aspirational district. His first program, interaction with the officials, the bankers, the NGOs, the church leaders, and the representatives of political parties was held at Conference Hall, Deputy Commissioner Office, Mamit.
Pu Lalnunhlua, Deputy Commissioner chaired the proceeding of the reception program of the visiting head of state. Pu H.Lalzirliana, the constituent MLA who is also Vice Chairman of Road & Infrastructure Development Board also participated in this function.
The programme began with a welcome address to the Governor by the Deputy Commissioner. This was followed by presentations on the District Profile and Security Scenario of Mamit District. Pi Lalthangpuii Pulamte, SP, Mamit gave a presentation on Security Scenario while a nodal officer from DC Office gave a presentation on the District Profile with a special focus on developmental activities under the aspirational district program.
After the presentations, Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati interacted with the officials. He asked the officials about the progress made and the challenges they face in important sectors such as education, power, road, drinking water supply, and various social security schemes. He urged the bankers and the officials to create more awareness of centrally sponsored welfare schemes like PMJJBY, Mudra Scheme, PMUY, PMSBY, etc.,. He also urged the officials to speed up the initiatives being taken under schemes like PMAY(U), PMAY(R), Jal Jeevan Mission, PMJVK, PMGSY, etc.,. He stressed the importance of getting responsibility for the implementation of various developmental activities under the aspirational district program. He reminds the official that Mamit remains to fare poorly in a key sector like education and that improvements are needed to be made urgently in a sector like this. He advised the officials to pay attention to the details of parameters that are hampering the rankings of the Aspirational Districts monitored by NITI Aayog.
He thanked the Deputy Commissioner and his district officers for the warm reception given to him. He also told them of his high expectation that through the hard work of the officials and the cooperation of the civil societies, Mamit District will rise into a prominent district from its current status as an aspirational district.
