Hnahthial, the 22nd March 2021: After the first itinerary was cancelled due to Covid-19 Pandemic, Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, accompanied by Lady Governor Reetha Sreedharan, had finally made his maiden tour of Hnahthial District and attended official programmes at various places in the district capital, today. With this trip, the Governor had visited almost all the districts in the state, except Serchhip District, after assuming his office on the 25th of October 2019.

Even though a larger function cannot be organized due to strict Covid-19 regulations, a small but formal interaction with the district heads of offices was held at Government Hnahthial College. At the outset of the function Pu H.Dolianbuaia, Deputy Commissioner delivered a welcome address. This was followed by a presentation from Pi Jennifer Vanlalhruaii Pachuau, SDC  on the salient features of the district with the briefings on general administrations set up. While the reports on Law and Order situations within the district were presented by Pu Lalbiakkila Tlau, Superintendent of Police. In his official address to the people of the district, the Governor congratulated them for finally having a functional district administration of their own. This essential creation, according to him, will surely serve the people in this area much better in every way possible than before. He has also assumed that like all the new functional districts, Hnahthial District has a long way to go to have all the facilities that are present in the full-fledged districts. However, he was quite confident that his government will try its best to fulfil these requirements as soon as possible.

Addressing the officials, Governor stressed the significance of their roles in driving the new functional district towards the goal of self-reliance and to fulfil the aspirations of the people for which the new district is being carved out. As the officials in the new district administration, they were also encouraged to ensure delivery of minimum requirements to the general public by optimum utilization of whatever resources that may be available under their disposal.

After his official engagement with district officials, Governor Pillai also had lively interactions with the leaders of the NGOs, the Churches and the Political Parties.

Later in the afternoon, the Governor had visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra(KVK) and School of Agricultural Science(SAS), Hnahthial within the same premises where he had interactions with the students on the subject of agriculture for development. The Governor also gave a heartfelt tribute to Dr Lalmuanzovi, Sr Scientist & Head, KVK who had passed away due to cardiac arrest while performing her duties to oversee the preparation at KVK, Hnahthial to host Governor and his official entourage. At the KVK office, Governor was also shown demonstrations of various models of works taken up by KVK, Hnahthial. He had then inspected the District Hospital, Hnahthial and interacted with Doctors, Nurses and medical staff. On inquiring the basic needs at present for the essential functioning of the District Hospital, Governor assured the hospital stall that he will be doing his best in his capacity for facilitation the requirements.
