Hon’ble Governor of Mizoram Shri Kummanam Rajasekharan today visited Mizoram Multi-Commodity Producers Cooperative Union (MULCO) Plant at Thuampui and College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Central Agricultural University, Selesih.

Shri Kummanam Rajasekharan first visited the MULCO Plant at Thuampui. He was received by Managing Director Dr. Lalremliana, who went on to give a tour of the procurement, laboratory, processing and packaging units within the Plant. The two discussed on the infrastructural setup, production capacity, logistical challenges, and other factors that have impeded its expansion. In the meantime, the Governor also offered help towards augmentation of the plant.

The Governor then visited the College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry (CVSC & AH), Central Agricultural University at Selesih. He was welcomed by both Dean of CVSC & AH, Dr. Lalnuntluangi Hmar and Dean of College of Horticulture, Thenzawl Dr. H. Prasad. The Governor was given a tour of various buildings of College of Horticulture, Thenzawl; Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and CVSc & AH within the Central Agricultural University Complex.

A short programme was observed in honour of the Governor. During his speech, Shri Kummanam Rajasekharan said he was impressed after seeing the campus, the amount of work done and the exchanging of views. He said that the intellectuals that have gathered today have a very crucial role to play towards nation building, in building our basic amenities that include our farmers who are the backbone of our country. With their scientific expertise and the traditional knowledge of the farmers, together they can do wonders and put Mizoram at the top of India, he added. He said their hard work will pay dividends for the State in the long run. He said he had envisioned a Green, Clean, Bio and Organic Mizoram in the future and also stressed on the protection of environment.

Dr. Lalnuntluangi Hmar gave a brief highlight of the organisational setup, the courses offered, its achievements and other activities of the institution since its inception. Distribution of saplings was organised by KVK, CVSc & AH, Selesih during which the Hon’ble Governor distributed mango grafted saplings to few farmers.
