Dated Aizawl, 5th November, 2024: Mizoram Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati hosted a reception and felicitation ceremony at Banquet Hall, Raj Bhavan for All India Tour Cyclist Pu Vanlallawmzuala Varte (Lz Varte) of Mission Veng, Aizawl, at 7:00 PM, today. The Governor felicitated him with a momento and incentive cash of Rs 10,000/- as a token of appreciation.
Pu Vanlallawmzuala Varte, under the initiative of the Mizoram Pollution Control Board (MPCB) and as part of the Mission Life campaign, embarked on a journey by cycle titled 'Ride to Clean Air & Sustainable Lifestyle'. He began his solo ride on January 25, 2024 and traveled across the 28 states and 5 union territories of India to raise awareness on the importance of preserving clean and healthy air. On arriving each states and the UTs, he had a meeting with Pollution Control Board officials to discuss the importance of preserving clean air.
Mizoram Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati lauded the challenging feat achieved successfully by Pu Vanlallawmzuala Varte. The Governor was very appreciative of the Cyclist's impactful message on clean air as he travels across the 28 states and 5 union territories of India by cycle to spread the awareness. He also said that Pu Vanlallawmzuala Varte's efforts and sincere dedication is appreciated by everyone within and outside the state and brought proud moment for a state like Mizoram.
On stressing the urgent need to address rapid climate changes and the need for creating awareness on preserving clean air, the Governor reiterated that Pu Vanlallawmzuala Varte’s campaign and message would certainly inspire positive change and raise awareness among the public.
In this felicitation program on his behalf, Pu Vanlallawmzuala Varte also shared his experiences and various challenges encountered during his All India Tour with the Governor. He expressed gratitude for the motivational support and assistance he received from people and officials in different places he visited. He conveyed thanks to the Governor for recognizing his achievement and organizing an official welcome prigramme at the Raj Bhawan. He presented the Governor a photobook which documented the diverse experiences and knowledge he gained during his tours.
Pu Vanlallawmzuala Varte started his All India Tour on January 25, 2024 from Aizawl and arrived at Vairengte, Mizoram on October 31, 2024 after spending 281 days. He returned to Aizawl on the 286th day, having traveled a total of 17,043.1 km. On average, he covered around 83.54 km daily, riding approximately 10 hours and 29 minutes each day.
