In their concerted effort to cover more areas in Mizoram with greenery more than 200 strength staff of the Government of Mizoram were spreading within the stretch of 10 kms from Melthum to Falkawn pruning the exsting trees and planting new saplings in vacant spots, today. This was organised as one way to implement the programme of the multifaceted 'Green Mizoram' in the state.
As per the provisions of State Level Committee on Green Mizoram, every department in the state has been given the task and responsibility to look after the trees planted by its department until the saplings planted attained the stage of maturity. It was also provided to hand over the responsibility to the NGO's from adjoining village incase the department expressed its inability. However, the expenditure incurred by the NGO's so entrusted to maintain the saplings would be borne by the said department.
