Aizawl, 5 June 2026: Health & Family Welfare Minister, Pi Lalrinpuii, today attended as the chief guest at the Asset Handing Over Ceremony organized for the donation of critical care equipment and an Advanced Life Support Ambulance to Zoram Medical College & Hospital (ZMC&H) under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).

Speaking at the ceremony, which was organized by the Medical Superintendent of ZMC&H, the Minister expressed her gratitude to IOCL for its support towards the advancement of healthcare services in Mizoram. She stated that the donation, valued at ₹62,38,548, comprising a C-Arm Machine, Diathermy Machine, and an Advanced Life Support Ambulance, demonstrates the corporation’s commitment to public health and patient welfare. She emphasized that the contribution is not merely a donation of equipment but an important investment in saving lives, strengthening emergency care services, and advancing surgical capabilities in the state.

Pi Lalrinpuii also highlighted the need for further development in the field of neurosurgery in Mizoram. She noted that many patients requiring neurosurgical care are still compelled to seek treatment outside the state due to the lack of specialized facilities. She informed the gathering that a proposal for establishing a dedicated Neurosurgery Unit has already been prepared and that additional medical equipment will be required for its implementation. She therefore invited IOCL to continue its partnership and support in the future.

On the occasion, Pi Malati Malakar, Chief Manager (HR-CSR), IOCL, addressed the gathering as the guest of honour. She described the event as a significant milestone in the continued progress of Mizoram’s healthcare system. She reiterated IOCL’s commitment to the development of the North Eastern States and explained that, under Government of India CSR guidelines, corporations are required to allocate two percent of their profits towards social development initiatives. She stated that IOCL consistently contributes beyond this requirement. She further expressed hope that the people of Mizoram would continue to regard healthcare as a fundamental right and affirmed IOCL’s commitment to sustaining a strong partnership with the state in the years ahead.

The newly donated C-Arm Machine will support services in Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Urology, and Trauma Care. The Diathermy Machine will contribute significantly to safer and more efficient surgical procedures, while the Advanced Life Support Ambulance will enable faster and safer transportation of critically ill patients and facilitate treatment during transit.

The ceremony was attended by officials of Indian Oil Corporation Limited. Prof. Zoramthanga Zadeng, Director of Zoram Medical College & Hospital, delivered the vote of thanks, following which the programme concluded.
