In a short but solemn function held today at Assembly Annex Conference Hall, Aizawl, Dr R.Lalthangliana, the Minister for Health & Family Welfare Department inaugurated 6 new ART Centres at 6 districts namely Siaha, Lawngtlai, Serchhip, Hnahthial, Khawzawl and Saitual.

Dr R.Lalthangliana said that the Health & Family Welfare Department has reached an important milestone in its battle against HIV/AIDS by inaugurating 6 new Anti-retroviral Centres in 6 districts. He expressed his confidence that Mizoram could ‘flatten the curve’ of the rising HIV/AIDS case in Mizoram with the support of NGOs, churches and the civil society, as in the case of COVID-19 where Mizoram makes considerable achievement in containing the spread of the virus.

The first ART Centre in Mizoram was launched in 2005 at Civil Hospital, Aizawl. Currently, there are 5 state run ART Centres, one each in Lunglei, Champhai, Kolasib, Mamit and Kulikawn Hospital.
