The Department of Information & Public Relations won first prize for Government Website Excellence Award, 2020 organised by Department of Information and Communication Technology. The Department of Personnel & Administrative Reforms won second prize, while the Department of Health & Family Welfare won third prize.
ICT Minister Pu Robert Romawia Royte, who graced the short award ceremony held in the Secretariat Conference Hall, MINECO today, handed over the prizes to the winning departments. On behalf of the winning department, Information & Public Relations Director Pi Lallianpuii received the award from the Minister. Addressing the officials present, the Minister said that the ICT was currently hosting 336 websites, and that the domain, hosting and CMS (Senhri CMS) was provided free of cost. Regular quarterly assessment and evaluation of the various websites were also carried out by the ICT department, he added.
Stressing on the importance of creating awareness and promoting healthy competition among government departments, it was proposed that, henceforth, website excellence awards be organized every year.
The award was the first of its kind ever conducted by the ICT department and, altogether, 45 departmental websites were considered for it. The criteria used to gauge each website's performance were its usefulness to the public, correctness of data, content update, presentation and volume of information.
