Aizawl, 21.09.2023: H&FW Minister Dr. R. Lalthangliana inaugurated Energy for Health initiative today at UPHC, Zemabawk. This initiative is a joint project between the state government's Health & Family Welfare Department and SELCO Foundation with a plan to solarize over 300 Sub Centres and PHCs within the state.

The Health Minister expressed his gratitude to SELCO Foundation and partners for this initiative which would greatly benefit the health caste sector, especially in villages where power supply is erratic. He thanked them especially for their commitment to finish the project within the year and commented that huis department is open to future collaborations.

'Energy for Health' was launched by SELCO Foundation and IKEA Foundation earlier this year on World Health Day as a step towards improving universal health care using solar energy. In partnership with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, National Health Mission and state Health departments, this project is initiated to bring solar energy solutions to 25,000 healthcare faculties  in 12 states by 2026.
