The Hnahthial Wildlife Crime Control Unit today held a meeting at the office chamber of their Chairman Hnahthial Superintendent of Police Pu Lalbiakkila. 

 

Addressing the gathering, the Chairman stated that it is the duty of every citizen to protect and conserve wildlife, and to actively contribute towards sensitizing fellow citizens on the importance of preserving the environment. “We need to have more concerted efforts to protect the rich biodiversity of Hnahthial District, in line with the theme the ongoing 67th National Wildlife Week - Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet,” he also stated.

 

The meeting agreed upon preparing an educational video clip to be widely disseminated to citizens through various media. The meeting also decided on setting up check gates at the two ends of Hnahthial town, from where personnel on duty will confiscate both carcass and weapons used, should any offenders be caught. 

 

The meeting also commended the appointment of Dr.K.Lalzuimawia, Assistant Professor, Hnahthial Govt College as Honorary Wildlife Warden.
