Home Minister Pu Lalchamliana today graced the 5th Tri Services Veterans Day function organised by Mizoram Ex-Services League at the office premises of Mizoram Home Guards & Civil Defence.

Speaking on the occasion the Home Minister said that as an veteran’s son himself, he takes pride in being a part of the veterans family and pointed that Mizo ex-servicemen and their families have made invaluable contributions to various walks of Mizo society. Commenting on some of the grievances aired by the ex-servicemen regarding re-employment avenues under the Government of Mizoram, he said that 5 percent reservation for ex-servicemen and home guards had been okayed in police recruitment and this would be carried out in letter and spirit when recruitment is done in the future.

Today’s function was attended by office bearers of the MESL which also included its oldest member 95 year old, Padma Shri Hav. Lalbiakthanga Pachuau and other veterans. The function was observed following all SOPs and maintaining social distancing. This is the first time that Tri Services Veterans Day was observed in the state.
