Home Minister Lalchamliana inaugurate Male Barrack at District Jail, Kolasib having a capacity of housing 32 inmates and an MI Room. The minister was accompanied by Maria CT Zuali, IG Prisons, Vanlalfaka Ralte, SP Kolasib, Ruatsanga Ralte, SP, Fire & Emergency Services besides other officials.

The Home minister interacts with the inmates encouraging them to utilize their time in the Jail productively, reforming themselves into a better citizen. The minister also highlighted that the Mizoram Government is working towards making the Jail into a learning centre, where the inmates will be given training on different skill sets which can be useful for their livelihood once they finish doing their time.
There are currently 133 inmates, comprising 129 male and 4 female. Majority of them were arrested under Theft with 56 cases, 29 ND&PS and 24 MLP act cases.

The minister also visited Kolasib Fire & Emergency Services Station, inspecting the establishment and discuss on their operations and ways to improve services with the employees. According to the report by the Leading Fireman, there were 11 fire incidents during 2019, 2 house fire and others were forest fire to which they responded to.
