Pu Lalchamliana, Hon'ble Home Minister, Mizoram inaugurated and launched three new initiatives undertaken by Mizoram Police to improve and upgrade policing services at a function organised at Aizawl Police Station today.

Speaking at the occasion, the home minister praised and congratulated Mizoram Police for their unending endeavour to serve the people of Mizoram in the most effective, efficient and public-friendly way possible. He lauded the DGP of Mizoram Pu SBK Singh for spearheading the new intitiatives - All Women Police Station for Aizawl District, Mizoram Safety Mobile Application and Traffic E-Challan system which has become operational from today. He also thanked National Informatics Centre, Aizawl for their support in creating Mizoram Safety Mobile Application and Traffic E-Challan system.  

All Women Police Station for Aizawl District is the first of its kind in Mizoram and is located within Aizawl Police Station Complex. It will cater to Aizawl District and will be under the administrative control of Investigative Unit of Crime against Women (IUCAW), Aizawl. The All Women Police Station will be manned by an all female staff consisting of officers and constables and will deal exclusively with cases of crime against women and children. The All Women Police Station is expected to encourage reporting and registration of cases of crimes against women and children since the victims will feel more comfortable to approach the police station without fear of gender discrimination and prejudice. This will in turn help in bringing offenders to justice. Moreover, it will also expedite the process of investigation and disposal of cases thereby ensuring swift justice for the victims.

The 'Mizoram Safety' app is an android application software designed in collaboration with ICT Department, Mizoram for the general public so as to enable any person to easily and quickly contact the police in times of need. This web based app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and utilizes a Map, GPS, SMS and Dial functions of an android phone. Users have to register themselves with Name, Address and a valid phone number. It has various features such as a Map of Mizoram with real time location of the User (blue marker) and Police Stations (red marker, name and contact number of the Officers-in-charge of all Police Stations in mizoram, a dedicated button to know and contact the nearest Police Station and a dedicated 'SOS' button to instantly call the State Emergency Response Centre. Users of the 'Mizoram Safety' app can easily contact the police for reporting of crimes or any other incident and when they are in need of help. This translates to faster reporting and faster response time of police to any crime or incident.

Traffic e-Challan system is a comprehensive digital solution for Traffic Enforcement System delivered through an Android based mobile application and web portal. It is an initiative under e-Transport MMP and aims at improving service access and transparency in the system. The system is integrated with VAHAN and Sarathi applications and provides a number of users-friendly features, covering all major functionalities of Traffic Enforcement System such as on-the spot challan system and payment, ease of operations for Traffic Policemen, improved transparency and visibility in operations, efficient monitoring etc. Traffic e-Challan system will be officially operational in Aizawl City which is a landmark achievement for Mizoram Police. The system is expected to minimize misuse of power since all challaning activities with their exact location can be monitored by analytics provided in the software.
