The Hon'ble Governor of Mizoram, Pu PS Sreedharan Pillai visited Chawngte (Kamalanagar), headquarters of Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) today.

The Governor accompanied by Lady Governor Pi Reetha Sreedharan arrived Chawngte helipad at 11:15 AM where MLA of Tuichawng Constituency Dr BD Chakma, DC Lawngtlai Pi Shashanka Ala, IAS, CADC CEM Pu Rasik Mohan Chakma, SP Lawngtlai Pu Amit Goel, IPS and other officials received him. A guard of honour was presented to him by Lawngtlai District Police.

In a short function organised at CADC Rest House Complex in his honour, the Governor expressed his happiness to have visited the headquarters of CADC, one of the remotest areas of the country. He said, basic facilities of medicine, education and communication infrastructures are fundamental rights of the people and all stakeholders, regardless of political affiliations, should work for the welfare of the people.

In this function, Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pu Rasik Mohan Chakma delivered a welcome speech and highlighted about the CADC. MLA Dr BD Chakma also spoke and requested the Governor to root for upliftment of status of the ADCs.

The Governor and Lady Governor were presented with Chakma traditional dress. Cultural dances were performed by Chakma cultural troupe. Deputy Commissioner Pi Shashanka Ala, IAS proposed a vote of thanks and the function ended with the national anthem.

The function was followed by public interaction with leaders of CADC, NGOs and political parties at the CADC Rest House. After that, the Governor visited Community Health Centre, Chawngte. Then they departed for Aizawl by helicopter at 2:30 PM.
