The Hon'ble Governor of Mizoram, Pu PS Sreedharan Pillai visited Lawngtlai today.

The Governor accompanied by Lady Governor Pi Reetha Sreedharan arrived Lawngtlai helipad at 9:50 AM where DC Lawngtlai Pi Shashanka Ala, IAS, LADC CEM Pu T. Zakunga, LADC Chairman Pu V. Zirsanga, SP Lawngtlai Pu Amit Goel, IPS and other officials received him. A guard of honour was presented to him by Lawngtlai District Police. 

In a short function organised at LADC Complex in his honour, the Governor said it was his first intention to come and visit the Sixth Scheduled areas ever since he assumed the office and he was delighted that he could fulfill that wish. All elected members, political parties and government officials should work together for welfare of the people and for inclusive development, which is the true concept of a democracy, he said. Being given special roles and responsibilities under the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India, he said he committed himself to work for development of ADC areas and asked the cooperation and advice of the people towards it.

In this function, Executive Secretary of LADC Pu H. Lalramenga delivered a welcome speech. Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pu T. Zakunga highlighted developmental works under the LADC and requested the Governor to revoke the order issued on 13th September, 2019 banning new recruitment, posting and transfer of employees and to recommend to the state and central governments for allocation of more funds for developmental works to the ADCs.

The Governor and Lady Governor were presented with Lai coat and Lai shawl. A Lai cultural dance called 'pawh loh tlawh' was performed by Lai cultural troupe. Deputy Commissioner Pi Shashanka Ala, IAS proposed a vote of thanks and the function ended with the national anthem.

After this function, the Governor visited District Hospital Lawngtlai and the ongoing construction of a two-lane highway pertaining to the KMMTTP from AOC Veng upto Chandmary. This was followed by public interaction with leaders of LADC, churches, NGOs and political parties at the Circuit House. Meanwhile, the Lady Governor also visited Southern Standard Middle School and Lairam Motherless Home. They then departed for Siaha by helicopter after lunch.
