Aizawl the 28th January, 2022 : Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) Hrangchalkawn, Lunglei, the second UPHC in Lunglei District after Sazaikawn UPHC, was inuagurated yesterday by Dr.K. Pachhunga, MLA and Vice Chairman, Bamboo Development Board, Government of Mizoram. Hrangchalkawn is located at the southern end of Lunglei town area, and is strategically placed along the NH-54 Highway that connects Lunglei District to the adjoining Hnahthial and Lawngtlai Districts.

In his inaugural address, Dr.K. Pachhunga thanked the H&FW Department officials and staff for their selfless service to the community, especially during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. He stated that providing comprehensive primary healthcare services is one of the key aims of the Government, and that the Government of Mizoram, with technical and financial support from the World Bank, is implementing a 280 crores ‘Mizoram Health Systems Strengthening Project’ (MHSSP) in the State for improving the health status of its citizens. He urged the community leaders present to take ownership of the UPHC and other public properties, and to ensure that citizens maintain cleanliness and sanitation in these public infrastructures.

Pu H. Lalthangliana, Health Educator, CMO Office, Lunglei presented a technical report of the UPHC. The UPHC Building was constructed at a total project cost of Rs. 77.00 lakhs, and has 2 storeys. The building contains accounts room, pharmacy room, condemnation room, Maternity ward & labour room with attach toilet, Minor OT & dressing room with attach toilet, nursing station, male & female toilet, kitchen, sterilization room, general store, medical officer room, laboratory and male ward & female ward with two beds each.
