Aizawl, the 11th 2022 : Officials of I & PR Department – Joint Director Pi P.B. Lianthangpuii and Deputy Director Pu Pratap Chhetri, today had an Interactive Session with students of 2021-2022 Batch of English Journalism students of IIMC Regional Centre Aizawl at IIMC Campus located within the precincts of Mizoram University. The officials were invited by the Regional Director Pu LR Sailo to share their experiences and expertise with the students; Pi PB Liangthanpuii also released the April issue of IIMC Lab Journal – a newspaper edited by the students on the occasion.

Speaking to the students, Pi PB Lianthangpuii shared her experiences of working for more than 30 years with the Department and with the journalism fraternity in the state. She motivated the students to work in whatever field they choose, after they graduate with their hearts and minds with conviction and commitment in their later professional callings of life. She called upon the students to be change makers wherever they go and work upholding moral and ethical principles. Talking about how the media landscape has changed in the country, she said that today, the media role as the guardian of democracy seems to be diminishing and vested interest are exploiting it politically and commercially and it is no longer playing the vital role it played in the past as the vanguard of people’s voices she added.

The officials had a question and answer session with the students where the students who hail from various parts of the country also shared their experience of living in Mizoram and knowing the North Eastern part of the country up close.
