Delegates of India and Myanmar and officials from Commerce & Industries Department, Government of Mizoram visited a site for construction of Land Custom Station (LCS) at Zorinpui in the southern border of Lawngtlai District tomorow.

10 delegates coming from Myanmar, 7 delegates from India and 4 officials from Mizoram C&I Department were guided by Assam Rifles Brigadier Vinod S. They inspected the site and discussed various plans for Indo-Myanmar trade.

A suitable plot of land measuring 67.32 bighas is acquired by the Government of Mizoram Commerce & Industries Department for establishment of LCS at Zorinpui. The Government of Mizoram already submitted Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this amounting to Rs 57.99 crores, and Revised DPR is to be prepared as per SOR-2019. Construction of bridge required to connect Zorinpui with Myeik-Wa is to be taken up and site identification for this has also been done today.

Construction of Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project (KMMTTP) for linking LCS (Zorinpui) which is the main channel for connecting Sitwe Port inside Myanmar has been taken up by Mizoram PWD and 85% of the construction work is completed.

Myanmar delegates called on the Chief Secretary of Mizoram  and discussed with him several agendas regarding Indo-Myanmar trade relation through Mizoram state. The delegates will also visit Zokhawthar in Champhai District next week.
