The International Museum Day was observed at Mizoram State Museum by the Department of Art & Culture and Pu R. Hmingthanzuala, Director graced the function as Chief Guest today. The theme of this year’s International Museum Day entitled “Museums as Cultural Hubs, the future of Tradition.”

By addressing the function, Pu R. Hmingthanzuala emphasized the importance to raise awareness among Mizo that museums are an important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and communication with other society.

The function was attended by members of Mizoram Upa Pawl (MUP), DIET, Aizawl. The State Museum had 13157 visitors during 2018-2019. The State Museum consisted of Six Galleries with 2678 museum objects, out of which 729 museum objects have been show cased. Museum objects that reflected Mizo Culture have also been sent to Tribal Museum, Ranchi; Bhopal Museum, Silpigram Museum, Gwahauti; Jawaharlal Nehru Museum, Itanagar.
