Serchhip, 5th December, 2024 :  A meeting of the Organizing Committee for the upcoming International Paragliding Accuracy Championship & Air Sport Festival was held in Serchhip today. The meeting was chaired by Serchhip Deputy Commissioner Pu Paul L. Khuma and Tourism Director Pi R. Lalrodingi to discuss the final preparations for the event, which is set to take place from December 9 to December 14, 2024.

Serchhip DC, Pu Paul L. Khuma, expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing preparations and highlighted the significance of the event for the district. He also acknowledged the support of local community and NGO leaders and assured that the event would be a resounding success.

Tourism Director Pi R. Lalrodingi emphasized that Serchhip District has become a model district, and the Tourism Department has full faith the efforts led by the Deputy Commissioner. She noted that the meeting today was convened to ensure that all aspects of the event are properly organized and executed.

The championship will kick off on December 9, 2024, with pilot registration. Serchhip DC, Pu Paul L. Khuma, will be the chief guest at the flag-off ceremony. A total of 79 pilots from 14 countries have already registered with the Fédération Internationale Aéronautique (FAI), and eight participants have already arrived in Serchhip.

The International Paragliding Accuracy Championship & Air Sport Festival will feature exciting activities, including paragliding tandem flights for the public, hot air balloon rides, and a concert on the evening of December 14.

The festival will also showcase 15 stalls offering food items, handloom, fruits, vegetables, fresh fish, and other local products. Fish angling event “Nghakuai Chiah Runpui” will be held at Zawlpui, near the designated landing site for paragliders.

The closing ceremony of the festival will be graced by Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma on December 14 (Saturday).
